Rule and assumptions
Logo width = chest width x 0.28 to 0.32, then capped by the pocket/seam setting. Height = width / aspect ratio. Use the factor as a planning starting point.
- Actual shirt measurement should override size presets.
- Pocket and seam notes are practical warnings, not brand-specific templates.
- Recheck seam, pocket, and press pressure before production.
Use this tool for
- Sizing a left chest logo for shirts, polos, and workwear.
- Checking left chest logo placement when a pocket is present.
- Keeping a small DTF, HTV, or vinyl logo away from seam bulk.
- Preparing a copyable left chest placement note for repeat orders.
Worked example
Inputs
- Unit: inches
- Shirt size: Adult M
- Actual chest width: blank
- Design aspect ratio: 1.25
- Pocket or seam issue: no visible pocket
Result
The calculator returns a left chest logo around 4.25 in wide by 3.40 in high with a starting offset about 3.25 in below the collar line.
When to use this
Use this for a compact logo where a broad shirt decal chart would make the design too large.
What to check before pressing
Check the worn chest position, pocket edge, and press contact before repeating the placement across a batch.
Quick reference chart
| Use case | Starting point | Check before pressing |
|---|---|---|
| Adult left chest | 3 to 4 in wide | Common for logos and small marks |
| Youth left chest | 2.5 to 3.25 in wide | Scale down for smaller chest width |
| Pocket logo | 2.25 to 3.25 in wide | Keep away from pocket edge |
| Tall logo | Use width cap first | Tall marks need extra collar clearance |
Common mistakes
- Making the logo too wide for a pocket area.
- Aligning to the side seam instead of the visual chest position.
- Ignoring thick seams that can reduce press contact.
